Room to Breathe Online Course

Q: Can I sign up now – and take the next live course? 

Yes! I’ll send you class one after you register so you can get started. The rest of the course materials will be electronically delivered just before the course begins.

Q:  I want to do the course but am not on Facebook and don’t want to join.  Is the community forum where you can ask questions on Facebook?

You don’t need to join Facebook to access the course. You do need to join Facebook if you want access to the member’s forum. Many people who don’t want to “join” Facebook, but want to be in a private discussion group, simply create a Facebook account, join the group, but don’t “friend” anyone. That is a simple solution for those who don’t want to be “on Facebook” or share their information, but do want access to the conversation.

Q: What if I’m driving and listening?

Do not listen to the guided meditations while driving! It’s not safe. If you are driving during one of the live calls, pull over during the time of the class and certainly pull over for the time of the meditation practice (not usually more than 10 minutes) and a bit afterwards. Please don’t drive and attempt to practice the meditations!

Q: What happens if I miss a class?

Each class is recorded and will be available to you by that evening or the next day. If you want the nursing contact hours, you need to complete the questions provided for each class and send those to me.

Q: Is this just for nurses?

No, it’s not just for nurses. It’s for any health professional, no matter where you work. A diverse group can be a real benefit to our understanding of what similar and different stressors we each have. If you have questions if this program is right for you, please contact me.

Q: What if I can’t practice every day? Will I still get my Continuing Education Contact Hours (CEs) or the benefit of the program?

There are certain requirements you need to fulfill to get your CEs. Click here to read more.

I have found that people get the greatest benefit from consistent practice. However, many people find they get great results from practicing just a few times a week and by attending the calls or listening to the recordings. Everyone is unique and also differing kinds of stressors. So really you are the scientist and the experimenter of your own experience.

Q: How is confidentiality discussed and provided? 

At the beginning of the live 7-week class we talk about confidentiality and also information on how to communicate in the private Facebook group. 

Q: Is this a religious practice? 

No, this is a secular practice of quieting the mind, bringing your attention to your breath or other focus of awareness with compassion.

Q: What is the homework and how long will the homework take me each week? 

There is also the expectation that you begin a mindfulness practice 5- 30 minutes a day. You have workbook materials and guided audio recordings to help you.

Q: I’m anxious in groups, do I have to talk in the live calls or post in the Facebook group page?

No one has to talk or post in the group. But you may find after the first couple of weeks of hearing and/or reading other people ask questions, you may feel more comfortable. You can also always email me your questions personally and I’ll respond directly.

Q: What technology do I need? 

For the tele-calls you just need your phone and it would be useful/helpful if you have headphones so that while we do the meditation practices you can be hands free, and more relaxed. For the Facebook group, you need access to the internet. We will send you an invite to the Facebook group immediately after you purchase the Room to Breathe program.

Q: Is this refundable?
